THE COCOMOON STORY

The Story of COCOMOON

The founder Frida always had a deep love for travel and a profound affection for the sun. However, she often found herself frustrated with the swimwear options available in the market. "I could never find swimwear that fit well and lasted more than one season," she recalls. This frustration sparked an idea that would eventually lead to the creation of COCOMOON.

In 2022, Frida decided to take matters into her own hands. She began sewing her own swimwear using sustainable fabrics made from old fishing nets. Her innovative designs quickly caught the attention of her friends and the women she met during her travels. "Swimwear became a natural topic of conversation," Frida explains. "I discovered a demand for swimwear that fits various body shapes. Many women feel so uncomfortable in their bodies that they don't even undress at the beach."

Motivated by these conversations, Frida embarked on a mission to design swimwear that catered to different needs and body types. Her designs focused on comfort and practicality, avoiding the use of underwires, plastic, or metal clasps, which consume significant energy in their production. "I felt I had a mission: to create sustainable, high-quality swimwear that makes women feel like the 2.0 version of themselves," Frida says.

The Collection

Frida's vision materialized into a fully designed collection that embodies innovation, timelessness, and elegance. The collection includes three different tops, three different bottoms, and a one-piece swimsuit. Each of the seven styles is named after one of Frida's girlfriends, reflecting their unique needs and preferences. For instance, the sporty top "Daniela" is named after her active friend, designed for those who enjoy being more active in their swimwear. Similarly, the bottom "Isabella" is a cheeky style with a wide waistband, addressing a common request from new mothers.

A Sense of Responsibility

"Social media bombards us with a certain body ideal that can affect us and harm women's self-esteem and perception of their bodies. I feel a responsibility to advocate for healthy body ideals, and it's important to me that my collection is inclusive of all women," Frida explains. This sense of responsibility drives Frida to create swimwear that empowers women and promotes a positive body image.

Quality and Sustainability

High quality is a hallmark of COCOMOON. This commitment is evident in the thoughtful design, choice of fabrics, and socially sustainable production chain. The swimwear is crafted from carefully selected Italian fabrics that are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, ensuring they are free from harmful substances. In this collection, the "Spring Green" fabric is made from recycled ECONYL material.

Colors and Inspiration

The colors of the collection were cosen in collaboration with a color analyst to offer options that suit everyone. "We have chosen colors according to the seasonal model. The goal has been for everyone to find 'their color,' based on skin tone, hair, and eye color. We all look more or less good in different color scales, which can be explained as seasons. The rich orange color, 'Egitto,' is a typical 'autumn color,' while the bright green color, 'Spring Green,' is a 'summer' on the seasonal scale," Frida explains.

Production

Frida chose Reguentex in Portugal as their manufacturing partner with careful consideration. For her, the decision wasn't just about securing high-quality production but also partnering with a company committed to environmental stewardship and maintaining a fair, socially sustainable production process. Keeping production within Europe was crucial to minimize long-distance transportation and reduce environmental impact.
